Dylan's Song of the Week;; Gotye! ♥♥

Hey guys!

So I've been trying to think up blog posts to personalize up this blog a little bit so it's not all just nail posts. On top of some beauty posts I'm planning, I've decided to do a weekly post on my favourite artist and song of the moment, since I'm always listening to music and it's a really big part of my life. This week, I'm featuring an artist that I don't think is known well enough in the world, Gotye, even though the video I'm showing you guys has over 2.7 million views. I feel like I'm responsible for half of those views. But check him out! This is his song, Hearts a Mess.

The videography for this song is outstanding, and I love the sound and mood he's put to this melody. That pipe organ instrument gets me every time.

I hope you guys enjoy this song, if you do or if you already love Gotye as much as I do, let me know in the comments!

Much love!

NOTD;; Minted Silver! ♥♥

Hey guys!

So recently, due to resounding reviews that I've seen and people going crazy over this colour, I picked up Revlon's Minted at my drugstore the other day. Naturally, it was the first thing I wanted to play with out of the three I got, but I was a little bit at a loss as to what to do with it.

I wore the colour just by itself for one day, just so I could look at it and figure out my plan of action. Of course, since I always wear nail art, people at work were asking me what was wrong and if I was feeling okay, which was adorable. By the end of the day, I was inspired (somehow, in a store full of fabrics and textiles!) to work with mint and silver. This is what I came up with!

These nails are totally fun to look at, and they're a great, relatively simple design that can be executed well with practice. It's also super simple because it only involves two nails polishes and it's all straight lines, but it's still intricate and dynamic.

Guest NOTD;; Magic TCG Inspired Nails! ♥♥

Hey guys!

So, my friend Dan (my roommate's boyfriend) came over one night and decided he wanted to play with my nail polish. Being addicted to Magic: The Gathering, naturally he decided to do his nails in such a fashion. Apparently he used to paint his nails all crazy quite often, which makes me very happy. Check out his work, I must say I'm impressed!

It was a little awkward trying to get pictures, but we worked it out =P But check it out, he's rocking all of the Magic attributes! Just a little bit nerdy. When I told him I blog all my nail art work, he asked me to blog his nails for him, so here it is! Read on for the break down...

NOTD;; KAPOW!! Graphic Inspired Nails! ♥♥

Hey guys! So these nails caused me a little bit of grief and a good chunk of time, but I wanted to get them as perfect as I could! Check these puppies out!

These nails were originally inspired by the graphic lines and movement in comic books, but it took a few twists and turns and went so much further than that =P I decided to skip the POW and BLAMO wordy type nails, because as awesome as that is, I think it's been done. I wanted purely graphics for this look. Keep reading to check out the breakdown! It's a big one, I used a combination of 11 polishes to make this look, holy jeez!

NOTD;; Kinetic Sunshine! ♥♥

Hey guys!

I've been running myself around like crazy over the past while with moving in and everything, I never got to post this NOTD! It's simple, but I really wanted to use my two new China Glaze polishes. Check it out!

When I first put these polishes on my nails together, I thought they were blindingly bright. Adding the silver line in between helps to block the colours a little more and give them dimension. It was also the only thing I could do with the thirty seconds left I had to do my nails that night! =P

HaulnSwatch: China Glaze's Electro-Pop Collection! ♥♥

Hey guys!

So recently I went into my local BSO to pick up some gifts for a friend, and when I saw the electropop collection, I knew that some of them were coming home with me. It's exciting, these are my first legit China Glaze polishes!

I ended up only taking two. ladies and Gentlemen, meet Sunshine Pop (yellow) and Kinetic Candy (blue)!

The colours from this collection were all vibrant neons and brights, but the two I came away with , in my opinion, define the collection very well. Swatches after the jump!
